This Handbook and Catalogue has been updated and expanded since the last edition published over ten years ago. All Railway Letter Stamp new issues of the recognised railways have been included along with a greater expansion in the ‘For the Record’ section.

In recent years collectors have broadened their collecting areas. Nowadays many collectors of Railway Letter Stamps also include labels which pertained to such issues. Also, some of the modern preservation railways have issued these unofficial stamps as a form of fund raising. Items in this category have been priced where possible.

With the growing interest in both the genuine railway letter stamps as well as the unofficial issues it has been shown that stocks of these stamps are not readily available and the catalogue prices have increased accordingly.

Also included in this edition are more of the flaws and varieties that make all collecting more interesting. All illustrations have been changed from black and white to colour in this issue (where possible).
